What does the statement "network 0.0.0.0" accomplish in the config below?

Router eigrp 100

network 0.0.0.0

Route ALL networks.

If I'm understanding correctly, All connected networks will participate in the configured EIGRP AS?

Matt

Yes if you configure network 0.0.0.0 under router eigrp then eigrp will include every interface that is up/up in the routing protocol, will send Hello messages through each interface and will attempt to establish eigrp neighbors on each interface. eigrp will also advertise the subnet found on each of the interfaces.

Thanks to both of you. This helps a lot. Is there anywhere on cisco's site where this is documented? I could not find it. Thanks again.

I have never seen direct documentation on using 0.0.0.0 however there is certainly documention on how the network command works under eigrp, which is that it will listen on any interface which falls with an ip address inside the network command.

So if your network command covers every network then any interface would be covered
