Router-in-a-stick inter-Vlan routing

Hello,

I'm using a Cisco 1720 with 12.2(2) IOS

And the following command on the subinterface give an error:

encapsulation dot1q 1

Encapsulation command is available but with no parameters and it's not accepted alone.

Is there any way to so that?

Once I use '?' the encapsulation exists but:

encapsulation ?

gives me that the command is incorrect.

could you try upgrading from 12.2 to a newer IOS?

The only available RAM and Flash permitted me to go through 12.3(18)a

And the same problem I'm encountering.

Hi:

You need the IP PLUS image at least to set encapsulation protocols on a 1720.
