3750 Online Diagnostic failure - reason???

Hi,

I hope this time I will again find somebody to help me. I have several Cisco 3750 and 3750E switches (some in stack, some - not). Since 1 month I have problems and decided to run the online diagnostics. Unfortunatelly 75% of the switches showed the following error:


Overall diagnostic result: MAJOR ERROR


Test results: (. = Pass, F = Fail, U = Untested)


1) TestPortAsicStackPortLoopback ---> .

2) TestPortAsicLoopback ------------> F

3) TestPortAsicCam -----------------> .

4) TestPortAsicRingLoopback --------> .

5) TestMicRingLoopback -------------> .

6) TestPortAsicMem -----------------> .


Due to the high number of defective switches I changed the IOS to the latest(I had a major problem after that in a stack between 3750 and 3750E switches), but the problem is still there. The official Cisco documentation is very poor about the results of the diagnostics, so my request is for further clarification about the reasons for this failure... Has anybody else met such a case? It is very suspicious to have some many devices of of order at the same time....

Port ASIC failure is not a good omen. Raise a TAC Case and have the switches RMA-ed.
