BS MET getting CCNA

Unanswered Question
Jul 6th, 2009

I am a 25 years old and have worked as a Pro Engineer drafter creating customer drawings. I was let go in July 25, 2008 and unable to find work due to the lack of demand for Mechanical Engineers. I am now going back to learn IT Specialist skills including CCNA and Microsoft Certified Personal (MCP). I have my EIT/FE.

How will employers look at me? Will they think my engineering skills are sub par? I have been applying for work everyday for almost 2 years now with no concrete response expect we lost so much money we can't hire anyone. I also found out the Design Engineering field was the hardest hit.

I learned solidworks as well. I spent my whole life wanting to be an engineer and create/innovate new solutions. Will Cisco certifications help me get into an innovative field/project? I enjoy trying to find a solution through innovation not just sitting at a desk waiting for someone to hand me work.

I have this problem too.
