the sequence of commands have the following meaning:

a logical interface Async39 is created

the ip address is taken from that of Eth0/0

the ip directed broadcast is disabled not propagated out this interface

the L2 encapsulation is PPP

async mode dedicated

peer default ip address pool pool1

to the device that connects to the async line 39 an ip address will be assigned duiring PPP IPCP negotiation using an address of pool pool1
