Some boards of 15454 MSTP support 82channels, how?

Hi all

Because the DMX-40-C and DMX-40-CE only has 40 channels, at most we can see they only support 80 channels, how can the systems support up to 82 or 41 channels?

15454 can support total 112 wavelngth 80 in C band and 32 in L Band.

But cisco have defined 82 wavelngths in C band and 80 Wavelngths in L Band.

So you will have ONLY 80 Channels in C band but if you have tunable laser it CAN be tuned over the 82 wavelngth defined by Cisco.

So 15454 support 80 channels from that 82 list

For DWDM wavelngth see the link

I would imagine the marketing folks are counting the client side interface in addition to the trunk side. 40+1 = 41, or 80+ 2 = 82. That's typical "marketecture". I've seen it before, i.e., claiming a 10 GE interface as having 20 Gbps of throughput (10 in and 10 out).

Good catch! I had forgotten about that.

We had the same situation on the original OC48 200GHz DWDM cards where we offered more wavelengths than were supported by the passive filters (15216). The additional wavelengths matched channel plans offered by other vendor's passive filters.

I think your reply is correct.

I find this place is great, every question can get the answers.

Thank you every one.

I can understand 41 channels as they can count the 1510nm Optical Service Channel (OSC) as an additional wavelength.

I believe the 82 channels is just an error in the documentation.

The only way to support 82 wavelengths would be to add L-band to the system (which would have 113 channel capacity, including the OSC).
