server losing routes

Hi all I have a problem with my print server losing connection to any remote sites, but locally its fine. it sits on an IBM blade server. One strange thing is that if I clear off the arp cache and mac address table for the vlan its on from the default multilayer switch, I can then ping it from remote sites again

Any ideas what this could be

Are you running any first hop redundancy protocols?

HSRP,GLBP between your switches or routers?

Could very well be if its not stable. Make sure both devices have routes to the remote sites. Look at when the last state change was for the vrrp group. Let me know if you see anything. If you could post the output of the vrrp set up so I could take a look.
