MTU size& jumbo frame support for specific VLAN - C6500 and bladeswitch3120

Hi,

We have a C6500E with WS-X6704-10GE cards and XENPAK-10GB-LR+ modules.

This coreswitch is connected to an EMC Solera SAN, via a catalyst 3750E switch.

On the other end, the 6500 is connected to HP bladecenters via CBS3125X-S bladeswitches.

For iSCSI, we would like to enable the support for jumbo frames, going from the SAN, over the 3750, over the 6500, over the 3125, to the HP servers.

Is it sufficient that we configure the MTU size for the VLAN used for iSCSI to 9000? Or are there other things we have to keep in mind?

Thanks very much

Change the MTU size on the interface, not the VLAN, or if you are using an SVI, change the MTU on the SVI (interface vlan 10).

That line card supports jumbo frames up to 9216, simply changing the MTU on the interface or vlan interface is sufficient.
