Seeing SCSI I/O error: POSSIBLE BAD DISK

I have a remote site that is seeing the following errors:

(scsi0:A:2:0): Probable outgoing LQ CRC error. Retrying command

SCSI disk error : host 0 channel 0 id 2 lun 0 return code = 10000

SCSI I/O error: POSSIBLE BAD DISK -- device 0x820, sector 10453598

end_request: I/O error, dev sdc, sector 10453598

SCSI disk error : host 0 channel 0 id 2 lun 0 return code = 10000

SCSI I/O error: POSSIBLE BAD DISK -- device 0x820, sector 10453600

end_request: I/O error, dev sdc, sector 10453600

scsi0: ILLEGAL_PHASE 0x80

scsi0:A:2:0: Attempt to issue message failed

Yet, a show disk detail shows the disk to be normal.

We are not seeing any abnormal i/o issues.

The software is ACNS 5.5.7

Does this disk drive need to be replaced?

Look at the output of "show disks SMART-info details" to see if there is any proactive failures shown. Also, try "show disk failed-sectors" to see if there is anything that shows up there.

The disks are probably still functioning fine, however the errors are from some proactive errors being logged on the disk. It may (or may not) be ready to fail, but if you are getting proactive errors, then I would be prepped to RMA the disk. I would send your syslog to the TAC with the output of a "show tech" which gives all the output of the above disk commands.
