Help Address Question

Sorry, but I dont have access to my lab.

What source address does an interface use when sending a DHCP unicast to a DHCP server?

int gi1/1

ip address 10.10.10.1 255.255.255.0

ip helper-address 4.4.4.4

Whats the source address of the DHCP unicast?

What about if I had a secondary address?

int gi 1/1

ip address 20.20.20.1 255.255.255.0 secondary

ip address 10.10.10.1 255.255.255.0

ip helper-address 4.4.4.4

Thanks

Victor

Had a few spare minutes :-)

It uses the primary address of the interface ie. in your example 10.10.10.1

With a secondary address it still uses the primary address of the interface ie. 10.10.10.1

Victor,

I believe the primary will always be used as the source.
