ATM Issues

Hi,

I've got a site with 2 E1's connected in an ATM IMA configuration. The router card is an NM-ATM-4E1. I'm getting constant member state changes in the logs even though the connection is not dropping. The CIR from the telco is 2048Mbps.Does this mean both links will have traffic or not.Why would these error messages keep appearing in the logs.

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Hello Frank,

this is possible too.

Also if we look at the times each remove event is followed almost immediately by a add event then for some minutes the IMA is fine and then aga the couple of events.

Look at the following document about bouncing links in IMA:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk39/tk356/technologies_tech_note09186a0080093c93.shtml

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Hello Frank,

these messages mean the IMA bundle is not stable and one link is added and removed continously from the bundle.

Have the WAN provider to verify the circuits and it is also important to verify the difference in delay between the two links because it plays a role in IMA

Hope to help
