Dear All,

Intermittent Jitter failure in Cisco 2821 router. Show IP SLA satistics output gives "Latest operation return code: Socket bind error". Reachability between source and destination is perfectly fine and no packet drops.

Hi Michael,

I can suggest you 2 things:

1. In your configuration I do not see if you have enabled the ip sla responder on the destination router.

If not, you should enable it with the "ip sla responder" command.

2. Though it is not required to measure jitter, but to measure one-way packet delay it is required:

I suggest to configure NTP on both the 2821 router and the responder router so they have a common time source and their system times should be synchronized.

Cheers:

Istvan

Hi Istvan,

Thanks for the reply. I will implement IP SLA RESPONDER and NTP parameters on the router.

Thanks and Regards,

Manjesh Michael

Hi,

Important:

you should configure the destination router as an ip sla responder.

NTP should be configured on both routers so system times are closely synchronized. In that case you will get the most exact measurements.

But for jitter measurements only it is not required.

Cheers:

Istvan
