The suggestion was not to move the DSP module to slot 1, it was to move the VWIC card to another slot. If you still need convincing, this URL explicitly states the limitation on slot 0 -

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/access/2800/hardware/installation/guide/01_hw.html#wp1089015

Under Figure 7, it states the following -

Note Slot 0 does not support PRI on T1/E1 VWICs, only channel-associated signaling (CAS) digital voice.

Should not happed, can you try a different IOS ?

Cisco IOS Software, 2801 Software (C2801-ADVIPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.4(22)T, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

Same, do not work...

- Have you got any H/W conference or transcoding configured on the same gateway? If not try upgrading the IOS to a T train release on a ipvoice feature set.

Still not working...

The E1 will not work in Slot 0 of a 2801, put it in Slot 1.

S2S-OVR-LAN-V-GW1(config)#card type e1 ?

<0-0> Card slot number (always 0 for 1800 series & 2801 routers)

S2S-OVR-LAN-V-GW1(config)#network-clock-participate wic 1

WIC slot is empty or does not support clock participate

S2S-OVR-LAN-V-GW1(config)#network-clock-participate wic 0

WIC slot is empty or does not support clock participate

S2S-OVR-LAN-V-GW1(config)#network-clock-participate wic 2

WIC slot is empty or does not support clock participate

S2S-OVR-LAN-V-GW1(config)#network-clock-participate wic 3

WIC slot is empty or does not support clock participate

S2S-OVR-LAN-V-GW1(config)#network-clock-participate wic 4

WIC slot is empty or does not support clock participate

S2S-OVR-LAN-V-GW1(config)#

Slot 1 do not support Voice Cards!!!!!

E1 is only supported on Slot 0:

S2S-OVR-LAN-V-GW1(config)#card type e1 ?

<0-0> Card slot number (always 0 for 1800 series & 2801 routers)

Slot 0 does not support this card, even Cisco is shipping it in this position.

Try it. Really. Power down the router, move the card from Slot 0 to Slot 1 or 2. Power up the router. In CLI you will be able to configure it with card type in position 1 or 2. As long as you have not moved the card physically tp Slot 1 or 2 it will always show you Slot 0 as only option.

I had this issue several times, Slot 0 in a 2801 is a special Slot with reduced capabilities.

As this was the solution to your problem (moving the E1 to another slot than slot 0), i do not understand why my posting was rated with 1.

No Conference or transcoding Profiles configured this is a brand new config I strted. I eraced the old config.

I'm trying the Latest on the T train now...

If you have no joy there try seating the PVDM in another slot.

Moved the PVDM to slot 1, did not work...
