Hi NetPro,

Is there anyone who can guide me whether this is possible ?

RT1 --> ASA FW --> RT2

Router 1 and 2 running OSPF , but in the middle there is ASA Firewall. can RT1 advertise the segment to RT2 ?

example : RT1 ( 1.1.1.0 ) , RT2 ( 2.2.2.0)

your reply will be highly appreciated.

thanks a lot.

Jack.

Hi Jack,

Are you running any routing protocol on ASA ?

This could only happen if R1 and R2 are neighbour which i dont think in your setup .

I dont think it will work, lets see waht other say.

Vishwa

Hi Vishwa

ASA will do the static route only.

so, i plan to configure Neighbor for RT1 / RT2 . do you think this is workable ?

thanks

Jack

If the firewall is a L3 hop then no it is not possible.

If the firewall was in transparent mode then yes it would be possible.

From the looks of your addressing the firewall is indeed a L3 hop. OSPF will only form an adjacency with a neigbor on the same subnet so you could

1) run OSPF on the firewall

2) make the firewall transparent althoug you would still need to change addressing on router interfaces

Jon

Hi Master Jon.

thanks for your information, btw do you see any problem for this diagram ? can it be done ?

if yes then from RT 2 i want to see the subnet from RT1 . doable ?
