Is the Catalyst 6500 running IOS or Hybrid/CatOS?

By default, the switch boots from the first available and valid IOS image on the bootflash (issue the "dir sup-bootflash:" command, if using IOS, to check what IOS images you have).

You can force the switch to use another IOS image by using "boot system flash" commands, like, for instance:

! Boot from bootflash, IOS 12.1SX1

boot system flash sup-bootflash:c6sup22-jsv-mz.121.SX1.bin

! If previous not available, boot IOS 12.2SX2 from disk0:

boot system flash disk0:c6sup22-jsv-mz.121.SX2.bin

"show boot" command will display what parameters the swich is using to boot.

Also, remember that 6500 has SP and RP, so setting the correct config register in RP does not mean that the correct register is set in SP.

P.S.: SP is booted first.

can you explain this? what do you mean setting it in RP? dont both processors use the same locatioon ?
