Hi all

Have been looking at the cat 6500

can anyone tell me what t he difference is between

bootflash and sup-bootflash

disk0: and sup-bootdisk:

my understanding of the differences here are: the bootflash: is the flash for msfc on the supervisor and the sup-bootflash is for the catalyst supervisor, so this comes from the hybrid ability of the 6500. also the disk0: is the external flash card that is accessible from the slot on the front of the sup (if it is a disk type of flash) and sup-bootdisk: is the imbeded flash on the supervisor (and it is a disk type of flash).

Hi Carl and Dave,

bootflash: is the flash memory on the MSFC, or so called RP (Route Processor). sup-bootflash: and sup-bootdisk: is the same, depend on which version of IOS, the newer one actually point sup-bootflash: and sup-bootdisk: to the same location, where it is the flash memory on the supervisor card, or so called SP (Switch Processor). disk0: is the external CF card on front of the supervisor module.

You can verify this by using the show file system command.
