replacing a 4516-10ge supervisor

we currently have a 4510 with dual supervisors. one is bad and offline, I have a spare to use a replacement. Can someone point me to documentation on configuring the new one after it is replaced.

Hello Russ,

if you have the exact same model of supervisor most of the job is done.


with SSO or other sup redundancy strategy you need to put the same image on the new supervisor as the one running on the working sup.


Also the rommon version plays a role here specially some late IOS versions may require an upgrade of rommon version

when you insert the new sup it will be rebooted.


If you have also a spare chassis where to insert the new supervisor and you ensure to have a correct rommon and IOS image on it you can save time.


Otherwise you may need a time window and to insert the new sup on the chassis.
