Cisco 3700 and 2811 connecting via crossed cable

I have a two routers connected via a crossed cable (3700 and 2800) the configured with /30 ip addresses. this setup worked till yesterday then stopped. What could be the issue:

1. show cdp neigbors is showing the other router on the connecting interface

2. show arp is not returning any entries for the connecting device.

so is there cdp nei on both sides (the 3700 and the 2800 or just on one side?) also what about arp entries on one side ? sh interface command output would help... what did the logs show?

There's CDP neighor is showing on both sides. show int status does not reveal anything (no errors, no int resets, the intfaces is up and line protocol is up too) . Only one thing i got is that router crashed prior to that happening. Once i have downloaded the crash-info, i will share with you.

Any possibility that the IP settings of the interfaces were lost at one side during the restart (IP settings not saved in nvram before the crash ?)
