hi all

can anyone tell me, if I shut down a line card, how would I re enable this?

also can anyone tell me which cpu boots first? and how does it decide to flip to the backup cpu, ie what does it need the primary cpu to fail on before it flips?

last thing how would i reboot the whole cat 6500 with 2 supervisors without failing over to the backup? would i jsut type in >reload ?

cheers

I have this problem too.

Hi Carl,

1) I am assuming you are talking the command hw-module module num shutdown command. You can re-eable a card by doing

no power enable module num

power enable module num

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/ios/fundamentals/command/reference/cf_f1.html#wp1014886

2) Depend which one boot up faster. When the primary one failed, (lost its heart-beat) or reload of the primary one, it will fail over to the secondary SUP.

3) Yes, you can reload the full system with the reload command.

HTH,

jerry
