A router restart does not trigger a DFM alert

Dear Friends,

We restarted the Internet router during a scheduled maintainence window but Cisco LMS did not show the device as down.

The following are the device details:

CISCO7609-S with IOS version 12.2(33)SRC3

Sysobject ID: enterprises.9.1.864

Supervisor: WS-SUP720-3B.

The Ciscoworks LMS is version 2.6 and the following are the individual component versions:

1. CiscoWorks Common Services 3.0.6

2. Device Fault Manager 2.0.6

While looking into this issue, i noticed that DFM shows the device as unknown but still shows the alerts in DFM Fault History (though not in Alerts and Activities). The restart took place 2 days back.

But when i click on the Alert ID, i get the message "No results found using your selected search criteria.

Please try again using different search criteria"

Is it because the device is unknown that i did not get an alert?

Is there any compatibility issue between LMS and the 7600 router?

Thanks a lot

Gautam

The fact that the device is unknown means it is unsupported, and thus all bets are off. You should upgrade to DFM 2.0.13 to get support for this device. That said, if the device is unreachable for less than the polling interval (4 minutes by default), then DFM will not recognize it as being down.
