I have a 6509 currently running in Hybrid mode that I am researching to upgrade to native IOS.
On a regular switch, I can delete the old IOS image to make room in the flash for the new IOS image.
During the process I need to have the new IOS up on the switch. Do any of you know if it is a problem to delete the old catOS image (Then squeeze) then upload the IOS image during the process?

Hello Scott,
I would follow step by step the conversion procedure in the version for your sup/MSFC combination.
You can find it here:
or
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps708/products_tech_note09186a008015bfa6.shtml
For example for Sup2/MSFC2 it says to load the new native image on external flash slot0: see step 4 and 5
it says you can delete files and then squeeze files in bootflash: or slot0:
I'm not sure if this applies to catos image too that is your question.
Hope to help
Giuseppe

Yeah, given the budget restraints, I was trying to avoid the cost of a memory card, but it looks like I'm going to need one. Getting a quote now.
