Not sure I understand your problem description. Are you saying that, within Outlook, the IMAP folder Inbox does not show in bold with the number of items in the mailbox listed? Does this happen whether or not you've expanded the IMAP folders to display the Inbox? Or are you saying you just don't see new messages in the IMAP folder at all? Or something else?
