Example: You have a 3750E-24TD, i.e. 24 copper ports and the uplinks. In the config you'll see an interface TenGigabitEthernet1/0/1, if it's a 10

GE X2 which is in use, while you'll see interfaces GigabitEthernet1/0/25 and 1/0/26, if a Twingig is in place.

In other words, the physical X2 determines which types of interface you have available for configuring, as seen with a show interface status:

Gi1/0/24 GC_Internet connected 998 full 100 10/100/1000BaseTX

Gi1/0/27 UX2-1 g0/49 connected trunk a-full a-1000 1000BaseLX SFP

Gi1/0/28 UX2-2 g0/49 connected trunk a-full a-1000 1000BaseLX SFP

Te1/0/1 10GE til gl.server connected trunk full 10G 10GBase-LR

Here a 10GE X2 is in slot 1 and a Twingig is in slot 2.

Don't be confused when you get into config mode - you still see the interface gig1/0/25 and 1/0/26 in the config but they are not available for configuration.

Thanks,, I seen that afterwards

(the 1/0/25-28). How do I confgiure the X2 ports if I cannot get into 1/0/27?

Thanks again

paste the output of the show int tengig where you say you have the twin-gig module. Thanks

Hi,

You need to specify that you are using 1GB modules with the

hw-module module port-group

select gigabitethernet

command. The switch will then recognise the SFP modules you have inserted into the X2 and create the Gi ports.

See

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/modules/ps4999/products_tech_note09186a00807a30d6.shtml

Hope this helps

Chris

Is that true for the 3750e.. I din't see the "SHow Hw-Module" command. I went into the int gig and set it as a trunk but I have not put it in production yet.

If I am running a 3750 e do I have to do anything special or just confogure the interface.

I do seethis if I do sh ip int br

If you do a "show inventory"

The TwinGig Converter Module and the independent SFPs should be present.

remember that The Twin Gig Converter is not supported until 12.2(35)SE2 as per the link below:

I do see the convertors. so do I just configure the 25/-28 ports as normal gig ports?

I am a few days before I can try this and just wanted to be sure that have all my bases covered.

I am also curious to what happens if you configure ports 25-28 and the Ten gig ports?

Here is part of the show inventory.
