how about :
show tcp brief ?
and then clear the tcp session?
Example:
2611# show tcp brief
TCB Local Address Foreign Address (state)
81FC42B0 10.0.0.15.23 161.108.216.38.1660 ESTAB
2611#clear tcp tcb 81FC42B0
[confirm]
[OK]

It worked . The state was 'CLOSEWAIT'. why is it so..? is there any permanent solution for the same.
Thanks

You should have exec-timeout parameters set for all your vty lines that any idle lines will drop after say 15 minutes.

exec-timeout is already configured as 5 min. but still there are idle line for weeks..

This is a known bug, there are actually plenty of them so you can do the manual clear, reload or do an IOS upgrade to finally resolve this
