Unity MWI on line 2 on an IP phone

Hi,

If I have a 7942 or a 7945 phone with 2 lines both configured with Unity Voice Mail, will the MWI light for either line or diplay the flashing icon if a voice mail is left for either line 1 or line 2.

I was under the impression that this would only work for line 1 only.

Hi Norm,

There is some good flexability here :) By default, the 1st line would give the Lamp and envelope and the second line would just give the envelope icon. This can be changed so that it works the way you want.

For the 2nd Line Setting on xxxx (each phone)-

Line Settings for this Device - Changes affect only this device

Message Waiting Lamp Policy - Light and Prompt

The RED Message Lamp will then work for these Secondary lines on each phone. Otherwise you will just get the "Flashing Envelope" Icon for new messages.

You will see the flashing icon on both lines. By default, the MWI light will only light for the primary line. If you're running CME 4.0 or later, you have a "mwi-line" command under ephone configuration to designate which line lights the MWI.
