BGP Timers and Graceful Restart

Hi, this is a duplicate post from Lan Switching section so apologize about that. Didn't get any response there hence posted over here.


The query was does it help to have a neighbor do Graceful Restart NSF through a Firewall. Also with regards to timers on BGP just want to confirm when using HSRP that the interface should become the Active HSRP prior to BGP forming a neighbor or attempting to form a neighbor. Currently the keepalive timer for HSRP is set to 3 and BGP is set to 2 but am not sure if this is optimal. Thx

Hi,


During a BGP GR, devices between the two peers are not aware of this process, they continue to route the BGP packets.


GR will help for NSF if your BGP routers have two SUP cards.


I don't see the link with HSRP so more details about your design and what you want to do will be helpful here.
