642-587 AWLANFE and CCNA renewal...doubt!

Hello, I need to understand what I need to do because I'm not sure. In march 2007 I got my CCNA cert, then in October 2007 I also passed the 642-587 AWLANFE. Now, the 642-587 AWLANFE is expiring in september 2009, does this mean that my CCNA will also expire? From my cert path it is saying that CCNA will expire i September 2010, how can that be? Is there an error or it is right? I don't want to renew the 642-587 AWLANFE cert because I want to go to CCNP directly, I need to be sure my CCNA at least won't expire for another year.

Thanks in advance!

I have this problem too.

From the way that you described things it sounds like your CCNA will expire in Sept 2009.

One option for you would be to pass one of the CCNP exams before Sept 2009 and that will reset your CCNA expiration.

You can also check the Cisco Certificaiton Online Support tool to verify your expiration dates. If that still doesn't give you a firm answer you can contact a Support Agent at 1-800-553-6387 (US/Canada).

Hi Alexander,

At worst, your CCNA would be good to go until March of 2010 due to the 3 year period of validation. To me, it looks like your 642-587 must have been passed in September of 2007, which boosted the CCNA to September 2010 :)

Recertification

CCNA certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, pass the ICND2 exam, or pass the current CCNA exam, or pass a CCNA Concentration exam (wireless, security, voice), or pass any 642 - XXX professional level or Cisco Specialist exam (excluding Sales Specialist exams), or pass a current CCIE or CCDE written exam.

Hope this helps!
