Sup2/msfc2 from Hybrid to native, disk0: problem

Hi,

I was trying to convert a Sup2/msfc2 from hybrid to native IOS. the 12.2.18SXF image requires at least 64MB flash. However, at the rommon, it cannot detect the disk0: (which is a PCMCIA ATA disk). Is there a way to overcome this problem? does upgrading the rommon version help to detect disk0:?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello Eng Wee,

your understanding is correct:

>> Supervisor Engine 2 ROMMON version 7.1(1) or later supports the MEM-C6K-ATA-1-64M= (64 MB) PCMCIA ATA FlashDisk device. For more information, refer to the ROMMON Image Overview section of Release Notes for Catalyst 6000 Family Supervisor Engine 2 ROMMON Software.

Is this a Cisco ATA card?

What is the rommon version?

Hi..

Thanks for all the reply.

my rommon version is 7.1(1).

I managed to get it working when i do the following

1. Down load a 12.2.18SXF image that is <20MB.

2.TFTP the image to a 20MB PCMCIA flash.

3.Boot the new image from the flash.

4.After bootup, format the 64MB PCMCIA ATA flash. TFTP the desired image into this 64MB flash.

5.Configure “boot system flash disk0:……..” and wr mem.

6.Reboot the switch

7.The switch will try to bootup from the PCMCIA ATA flash. For my case, it made several attempts before it is able to bootup. See attached.
