Folks,
I just setup a location sever. went through the setup tool and setup the hostname and ip address, etc.
When i go to WCS and try to import the location server, it using account admin/admin and trying to connect at port 8001 to the location server by default.
In my case wcs fails to connect to locatin server, what can i do to fix the problem.

What version of WCS and what version of location ?

WCS 3.0
and the latest version of location server.

That is not compatible.
Latest version of location server (providing you mean 6.0.x) works with WCS : 6.0.132.0 or later only
Refer to the location server release notes to find a compatible version for WCS:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6386/prod_release_notes_list.html
WCS 3.0 (very old) works with Location 1.2.20.0, and nothing later than that.

The WCS is trying to connect to the location server using account admin/admin, and at port 8001, but can not connect with these credidentials, I can ping between the two and also can ssh into the location sever.

-admin/admin are the default credentials, if you have a doubt, you want to re-run the setup from the installers folder
-Try with https instead of http and also make sure port 8001 is not blocked. Do a netstat -an on the location to make sure it's listening on those ports
-Delete and re add the location on WCS
