Problems with Password Recovery for Catalyst 6500

Hi all,

I've problems to clear the password at a Catalyst 6500.

Switch boots config although register was changed to 0x2142. Is there a chance to skip the configration in another way?

Is this native IOS or hybrid CatOS?

If you are in native, the config-register you need to change is the one from the MSFC (RP).

When the 6500 is booting up it will start in the Switch Processor (SP), decompress the image and then you'll see:

>>>> Changing ownership to route processor <<<<<

here is where you want to interrupt (ctrl + break) and change the resgister

Great support! I allways changed the register prior the ownership was change to router processor. After waiting until done - pwd reset works fine. Many thanks for your effort.
