Using syslog with VRF

Hi

I've got a cisco 3825 and I would like to send syslog messages to a server located into a VRF with a loopback1 as source-interface.

The problem is when I want to set up the loopback1 as source-interface I got this error message :

"Interface Loopback1 is not in the global table"

"

How can I set up this loopback1 as the source-interface even if this one is into a VRF?.

Best Regards

Nicolas

Hello Nicolas,

check if the command has a vrf option before specifying the server ip address.

if there is specify the VRF name where the loop1 is placed and then the loop1 name

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Hi Nicolas,

Syslog vrf aware feature doesn't support source-interface option.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/mpls/configuration/guide/mp_vrf_aware_loggng.html#wp1075265

Laurent.

Hello Laurent,

I was meaning something like:

logging host 10.0.150.63 vrf

vpn1

like in the document you have linked

Edit:

you're right the command above allows to specify a destination for syslog messages in a VRF context, OP asked about choicing a source.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
