IPv6 support over ISL links

I completed a project where we enabled IPv6 between two devices that were configured for ISL trunking.

They have IPv4 working and routing using OSPF.

When we enable IPv6 and try to ping directly across. Nothing!

When I build a GRE tunnel between the devices ... that works!

Why doesn't IPv6 working across ISL links natively? That's operating at a different layer and IPv4 works fine.

Any insight on that?

Thank you!
