Good Morning,

Have you looked at the Trend Micro Protectlink software as a possible solution for your problem.  I use it everyday at the house and have great success with filtering traffic.

I have attached a link below for you to take a look at...

Have a great day

Hi David,

Thank you very much for your attention, Is it not possible to block the websites and url's in the existing router configuration instead of using Trend Micro ProtectLink software. If not why this router is having that Internet Policy Settings tab in the existing software configuration. or is there any way to block URL's and keywords. Please advise...

This means the Cisco Linksys forcing to purchase the Trend Micro ProtectLink Security Gateway software which is not fare....not tolerated...

By the way the basic Linksys by cisco model WRT54G router is having the all the stuff to do what ever I need to block websites and Keywords...

Unfortunately I have purchased this Linksys WRVS4400N Wireless-N Gigabit Security Router - VPN V2.0:(

otherwise please look into this and give me your valuable suggestions to resolve this

Have a nice day:)

Good Morning,

Yes you can use the url filtering, In my past experience with this I have found using the Trend product is easier to use.  They keep a more up to date list on thier servers.  I would take a second to read up on the Trend product and see what you think..

How many URL Filtering Policies are established at most?

A. The WRVS4400N supports URL Filtering for up to twenty URLs. This type of filtering is based on the actual URL or on key words. You can block more URL’s by category using the Trend Micro ProtectLink service. For more information on ProtectLink, refer to http://www.cisco.com/go/protectlink.

Q. Can I delete URL Filtering Policies?

A. Yes, you can delete any of the URL filters that you have created.

Hello David,

What I mean to say is it possible or is there any option to block websites and keywords without using Trend Micro ProtectLink service as the router interface software is already having that feature. We cannot afford as we are are not in the position to buy trend micro protect link service software. Please avdise what to do.

Thanks & Regards

Good Morning,

The WRVS4400N is able to support filters by keyword, I was trying to let you know that you are limited to 20 entries.

IT will handle most of the keywords, but it kills all the PC's on the network.

The reason that I like the Trend Micro product is that it is constantly updating the list of bad/inacceptable URL's.

An example of the benefits of the program is you can limit the staff websites to those you fell are acceptable, but the owner of the company can have his PC placed in the approved clients list.

Trend Micro Pricing at last glance is $129 for URL filtering (LBATMPG05)

Here is the screen shot of the interface for the Trend Micro.

Mohammed, were you able to make your router block any websites?  I've searched all over the site and the web and can't seem to find the answer. I have added a site to the blocked URL list and the policy appears to be setup right. I dont get it

Thanks!
