We have a WLC 4402-12 that support up to 12 AP's. Can I upgrade this WLC to support more then 12 AP's?

I don't believe you can upgrade your existing hardware. You may be able to arrange a trade-in, though.
You could always get another 4402-12 and put them in the same mobility group.

You can not upgrade the 4402-12 appliance to handle additional access points above the 12. The 12 is hard set.
The new 5500's are going to be allow different ap counts via a license.

OK, thanks. Then hopefuly there is a trade-in possiblity. Adding another 4402-12 is more expensive.

The 2106 lets you add another 6 AP and should be less expensive than the 4402-12. You may be able to trade it in if it's within 90 days, check with your account team.
Depending on what design you have you might also consider autonomous access-points.

Don't worry. You can ideally use the WLC4402-12 in a lab environment.

4402-12 are ideal for termination of guest traffic, as well.
