All,

Is Cisco LAN Switching (CCIE Professional Development series) by Wendell Odom (1999) still a good, valid book for today's switching technologies, or is there a better switching book that someone can recommend?

Thanks!

John

IMO opinion this is the bible to LAN Switching. It's missing most of the new features of Catalyst switches, but nails the basics. Rumor is that a 2nd Ed. of the book is coming out soon.

This is also one of my favorites books for switching-

Thanks Collin! Does the other book that you posted go into everything in regards to STP, redundancy, dhcp snooping, etc.?

No it's a book that focuses solely on configuration. It's not a cheezy configuration that make no sense, it's if you want to configure LACP these are the commands and the options. Very straight forward and it assumes you know what you're doing and you just need a reference. Yes you could use Cisco.com, but this book is faster and is well laid out. It's so handy it's worth the price (to me). It's 1 of only 2 books on my desk.
