basic wireless access

Unanswered Question

I'm looking to setup a small wireless network with 2 cisco aironets. We plan to use mobile devices with VOIP. Therefore it is essential that the devices can move seemlessly from one aironet to the other as the user walks around. I was wondering if the aironets can be setup for this and are a good solution for this scenario?

I have this problem too.

Hello Al,

Is this for Cisco 7921/7925 phones?

If you are going to be using Open Authentication or WPA-PSK Authentication then by default you will have fast roaming.

If you are going to be using WPA-802.1X Authentication then you have to make sure few things are in place:

1. CCKM is enabled on AP and your client must support CCKM as well.

2. APs are configured for WDS. One AP will play a role of a WDS server talking to the RADIUS server, and another AP will be WDS client talking to the WDS server.

3. If using 7921 phones, you need to have WPA+TKIP (AES is not supported for fast secure roaming).
