Hi Experts,
Can Brstart service running on TCP 9002 change to run on other TCP port number?
Please advise.
Thanks and Regards,
Yi Shyuan

Changing the port can be done, but it's not a simple process. The requirement that tcp/9002 be available for DFM is documented at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_lan_management_solution/3.2/install/guide1/prereq.html#wp1075786 . It is preferable that you make this port available, but TAC can give you the procedure to change the port if absolutely required.

Hi Joe,
Do you have any idea that if I go for TAC, will they request to remote login to the server to fix the process?

It should not be required, but if there if something goes wrong with the steps, it may be needed to fix things.

Hi Joe,
Is it possible to let the applications to share port?

No, this is not possible. Only one process can bind to a port at a given time.

The purpose of this port is only device discovery in DFM or is there any other?
If this is the only purposse, can I stop brstart service once the device discovery in DFM is succeeded? This is to make the port available for other service.

No, this port is used for DfmServer to function. This port must be available for DFM all the time for anything in DFM to work.
