hi! we're given 2 range of ip to use 172.16.2.0/23 and 172.16.4.0/23. will there be any issue if i would to cut the 172.16.2.0/23 subnet into 1/2? eg. 172.16.2.0-172.16.2.254 and 172.16.3.0-172.16.3.254 (which is /24)?
or
172.16.2.x/23 and 172.16.3.0/24? (does this means that there will be overlapping of ip?)

Ther is overlapping of ip,
Because in network 172.16.2.X/23 the first usable host ip is 172.16.2.1 & last usable ip is 172.16.3.154
In network 12.16.3.0/24 First usable host ip is 172.16.3.1 & last usable ip is 172.16.3.254

so....which mean rightfully, if i'm given the /23 range as per option 1 then i should be able to divide it into 2 subnets using /24?
is that correct? thx.

yes, you can split a /23 into 2 subnet with /24.
