Hi Friends,
I have a 6509 Swich with FWSM, 6724SFP, and 6748 Modules on it. As of now it is acting as the core swith of my network. I have a router at the perimeter connecting to the WAN. I have a new MPLS VPN link from the Telco now, since there is no free port on the router, can i connect this link to the Core Switch on any of the Line cards(6748 or 6724 module)
appreciate your valuable input
regards
Jacob

Hello Jacob,
yes you can because from your point of view it is a normal link the MPLS VPN is defined on the provider side.
to use a port as a routed port
int gix/y
no switchport
ip address x.y.z.k 255.255.l.n
(actually no switchport is the default on a C6500)
You may need to redistribute routes learned on the new link in a dynamic routing protocol
Hope to help

Hello Jacob,
a vpn module is used for IPSec based VPNs to perform encryption / decryption in hardware but it is a different type of VPN.
Hope to help
