Hi all
when configuring etherchannel for my trunk links, do I just need to config each physical port as a trunk, then just assign them to a channel group? i do not need to do anything on the port channel itself ?

Hi Carl,
Set your etherchannel group as a trunk also, otherwise you get a mismatch and the etherchannel won't work. you can also use the switchport trunk allow command to limit the number of vlans on the trunk.
hope this helps

how come the trunk config does not carry across to the port channel group ?

Dunno Carl, you'd have to ask the Cisco boffins that one - I do remember reading somewhere that it's supposed work the other way; change the port channel config and the member ports'll change to suite, but I cannot remember if I've actually seen that happening (might be dependant on platform and IOS vers?).
