VWIC-2MFT-E1 vs 2xVWIC-MFT-E1. Troubles. Please help

I wanted to save one slot in my 2621XM - this is one of main reasons I have bought VWIC-2MFT-E1 instead of 2 one-head controllers. Also I installed 1 AIM-VOICE30. (I need 2 e1 PRIs with only 16 timeslots in each)

I have 2 E1 links, first - from my telephony service provider and second link from my PBX (AVAYA). So i see my future scheme this way:

controller e1 0/0

description - To Service Provider.

pri-group timeslots 1-16

!

controller e1 0/1

description - To PBX

pri-group timeslots 1-16

I want a call arrived from SP will be sent to PBX and a call arrived from PBX well be sent to SP.

But I can not configure times slots on second e1, just see the output...

GK(config)#controller e1 0/0

GK(config-controller)#pri-group timeslots 1-16

Can somebody help?

Which exact IOS are you using ?

c2600-adventerprisek9_ivs-mz.124-19.bin

As i understand this is a bug?

That is recent, chances are is some bug, but unlikely cisco will ever fix that, because the platform is obsolete.

As i understand this is a bug?

That is my opinion, I don't know what Cisco would say, quite possibly two PRIs off a single AIM-DSP is not supported.

What should I do? Try another IOS?

Thank you anyway.

If you want to be sure it works, get a minimum of a 2801 with PVDM2-32.

Tomorrow I will insert there another vwic-1mft-e1. so i will have to separate e1 controllers...time wil show. Thank you.

And another question:

I am a bit confused. I will have 2 e1 links, 1 - To SP, 2 - To PBX and is it possible to transfer calls from 1 e1 to second e1 and opposite direction. Is it possible to have 2 pots peers on different sides of one call? Have somebody done this? May you will help with sample config?

I don't think it will work with a separate card, apparently the AIM wants to service to a single interface only.

Having two ports is a common configuration. PBX numbers point into a DP, PSTN number into another. Since router intercepts all calls, you can do VoIP as you like.

Yes, you were right - 2621XM + AIM-VOICE30 does not work right way neither VWIC-2MFT-E1 nor 2xVWIC-1MFT-E1. 2811 + PVDM2-32 + VWIC-2MFT-E1 - works the way I want. It gives me 2 PRIs with 16 active timeslots.

Thank you.

May be you will help me with real working config.

I want first PRI is looking at SP. Second PRI is looking at PBX.

I am confused with one fact, let me explain:

1. User dials a city number (inside BPX)

2. PBX forwards digits to GW via PRI.

3. GW sees that the city number must be forwarded to POTS peer - PRI from SP. So the call came from POTS peer and must be forwarded to POTS peer. Is it possible?

Is it possible to have 2 POTS peers in one call?

I think the AIM-DSP can't work because it cannot split a single DSP across two ports. So it may work with with, eg 10 channels per PRI.

Yes as mentioned above you can have calls that are terminated on pots both sides. This is useful when you are unable to program the PBX so you put the router between PBX and PSTN.

Just leave port that goes to PSTN as default, configure network-side and internal clock on the port that goes to PBX.

Don't you mind if I will show you my config?

Also, at this moment network-clock-participate and network-clock-participate-select is not 100% clear to me... why - i was working about 2 years without them. I do not understand the real effect of them...

I want you to confirm that everything is correct and perfect.

May be you was not doing fax that's why you did not noticed problems.

Set network-clock-select to the PSTN port, there is nothing else to worry about.
