cisco router as a radius server

hi

im using isdn pri connection as a dialup for remote side clients with linux based radius server.

my question is

can i use my cisco router as a radius server for authentication?

(i.e without linux based radius server).

No, but you can use local authentication with username and password stored in router configuration.

I have noticed some newer IOSes do have a built-in RADIUS server but this is usable only for LEAP authentication for wireless clients. It does not work for any other types of authentication.

Whether you can or can't ... it's a very bad idea. Many / most of the routers and other equipment barely have enough processor and memory to do their primary task, throwing additional processes on teh pile just reduces performance on everything else.

Better to drop in a old scrap machine running *nix than to dump on your routers like this.
