High Availability Upgrades for Catalyst 4507

I know that there are procedures to upgrade the IOS on redundant Supervisor modules for the Catalyst 4507. However, can you upgrade the physical hardware with High Availability?

For example, right now I have a chassis with two Sup II+ supervisors. Can I remove the standby, replace it with a Sup V, upgrade the code on the Sup V, then initiate failover with high availability?

Has anyone done this, and is there any documentation of how to do it on Cisco's site?

Hello Daniel,

one of the requirement for processor redundancy strategies is that the two supervisors have to be of the same model.

So I don't think you can do this in this way and you need to ask for a maintanance window

see

>> Redundancy requires both supervisor engines in the chassis to be of the same supervisor engine model (same model, same memory, NFL daughter card and so on), and to use the same Cisco IOS software image.

Hope to help
