frequent alert from lms 3.1

Hi all,

I keep getting this email alert from LMS 3.1:

ALERT ID = 00000S1

TIME = Thu 20-Aug-2009 16:08:17 SGT

STATUS = Active

SEVERITY = Critical

MANAGED OBJECT = 10.110.1.3

MANAGED OBJECT TYPE = Routers

EVENT DESCRIPTION = 10.110.1.3: Authentication Failure:MinorAlarm; 10.110.142.2 [10.110.1.3]:Unresponsive; 10.110.2.10 [10.110.1.3]:Unresponsive; 10.110.2.6 [10.110.1.3]:Unresponsive;

CUSTOMER IDENTIFICATION = Tech Support

What does the alert mean?

It means a few things. One, this particular device is being polled with the wrong SNMP credentials by some management station. Additionally, IPs 10.110.142.2, 10.110.2.10, and 10.110.2.6 are not ICMP-reachable from DFM.

The first event can be fixed by finding the management station doing the polling, and either stopping it, or correcting the SNMP credentials. As for the others, if DFM is really unable to ping those other IPs, then simply unmanage them under DFM > Device Management > Device Details.
