When an IOS device encounters an error condition that forces it to crash, it will generally attempt to create a crashinfo file. The crashinfo file will contain information about the operating environment at the time of the problem.

The crashinfo file is a text file and you can read its contents (on the device you can use the more command to display the content of the crashinfo file or you can tftp the crashinfo file to the hard drive of your PC and then use a text editor to read the file). Some of the information contained in the crashinfo file is useful to us in trying to understand what caused the crash, and some of the information contained in the crashinfo file is very specialized and useful to Cisco TAC engineer who might be trying to troubleshoot the crash problem.
