You need to select a contact from your contact list to use the chat field.

Try setting your incoming ACL for Proxy Server Settings on the Presence Server with Address pattern set to ALL, This worked for me when I had the same issue. You may want to scope this down to just the IP addresses of your CUCM Servers.

Did you integrate with LDAP??
I faced the same problem and I have solved this issue by integrating with LDAP

Dear,
I didnt integrated with LDAP Server. Is there any way i can sort it out this issue with our LDAP Server.

1) This screenshot is call CUPC (Personal Communicator). It's not CIPC (IP Communicator).
2) Those action icons were grey out because your contact (axladmin for example) was offline.

Dear Michael,

Then we'll have to troubleshoot "availability" first.
There are couple things that would cause "availability" status failed:
1) Digest Credential
You need to configure Digest Credential on CUCM > User Management > End User. If you don't want to configure digest credential for every user, you may configure a 'All' incoming ACL on CUPS > System > Security > Incoming ACL.
2) Inconsistency on LDAP and CUCM
If you configured CUPC to use LDAP, but CUCM is not integrated with LDAP, you need to make sure the user ID is the same in CUCM and LDAP (case-sensitive).
3) Firewall/access-list
Stateful firewall in Cisco VPN client would block the traffic (even though you're not using VPN at the moment, it's running in background).
If still no luck, I'd recommend you open a TAC case. :)

Dear Michael,
Some how sort it out some of the issue, Now are able to see the availability status in the drop and down menu. But we are not able to change that menu, Every time its showing offline status. If we put invisible option that also working fine.
And we are not able to see each user status.

Please see "Client Status" (page 93) in this book: http://www.lulu.com/content/5552336.
Or open a Cisco TAC case. :)

Check out if you opened the port between the network of the PCs where the CUPC are installed and the Presence server and CUCM.
That is because you need SIP communications between the client and the servers to maintain the presence functionality.
The list of the ports are detailed the the release notes below:
