Off loading some routing a good idea?

I have a 6509 using sup 720's. I see a spike in CPU utilization (average spike is 50%) every 10 minutes or so. It is due to my IPX traffic. I can't get rid of the IPX so I was considering moving the routing of it to a stand alone router. I'm not really sure what kind of router I'd have to get because the 720's are pretty fast as it is.

Anyone with any suggestions or think this isn't a good idea?

The key thing is when you get the spikes in CPU utilization does it affect the IP traffic flowing through your switch ?

Bear in mind that a lot of things are done in hardware on a 6500 ie. they do not need to use the CPU, so it may well be you could live with the spikes.
