WCS license problem

We had to upgrade the linux OS for WCS, so I backed up the database, installed a new version of the OS, made a clean installation of WCS, then restored the latest database.

Everything is working fine except the system says "unlicensed". I checked the licensing page, the license files are there, however the hostname is localhost.localdomain and it says unlicensed.

Is that due to the hostname? What should i do to fix that?

Thanks!

You need to make sure the hostname of the server is the same as the old one. The license files have the hostnames embedded in them.

would changing /etc/hosts and rebooting the server solve the problem?

If you restore the database, it has the license in the backup compressed file.

Licensing works per hostname.

If you check your license file, and open it in a notepad, you will see the hostname it has.

You have two options if the hostname is not the same on the new server:

-change the host file on the server and reboot

-contact tac so they rehost your license with the newer hostname.

If you did not restore the full backup file of wcs on the new server, then you may need to readd the license file.

The license files is a *.lic extension and resides at /opt/WCS/webnms/licenses
