need to reboot CM server after Device Package install (suppport new phone)

hi! we have 4.1(3)SR7 but does NOT have support for new phone model 7925G. As a result, we need to install CallManager Device Package 4.1(89.0).

But I am getting conflicting message about the need to reboot CallManager server after installation.

if yes, reboot all CM servers in the cluster or just the PUB?

readme says:

"When applying this Device Package to enable new device support, a cluster-wide reboot is required for those devices to register successfully.

A clusterwide reboot IS NOT required when running to update existing firmware/support."

A device pack does two things for you.

1) It adds new phone models to your CUCM deployment, i.e, adding support for 7925G.

2) Updates the firmware for phone models which are already supported in your CUCM depoyment, e.g., 7941G

If you are performing option 1 (which you are, by adding support for 7925G phones) you must reboot the cluster (all servers). This is so that the web page will start displaying the new phone models for you.

If you are only performing option 2, then you only need to reset the phones. At which point they will download the new firmware from the TFTP directory as instructed by their config xml file they download upon reset.

Clusterwide = ALL servers

Ever looked at service parameters that say "clusterwide"? Change it in any server affects ALL server.

Stuff like enabling CDR is PER server, so it's NOT clusterwide.

ok. reboot all servers

another question:

1. reboot each server right after device pack installation?

or

2. finish installing device pack on all servers first then reboot servers one by one?

thanks a lot!
