DHCP static mapping feature

Dear All,

Hello,

In our company's LAN we have a Cisco Catalyst 6509-E switch as our backbone switch with a WS-SUP720-3B supervisor engine and IOS ver 12.2.33 SXH

The problem is that we want to enable DHCP service so that the backbone switch access a tftp server to read static DHCP reservation entries from a text file on that server, this feature of DHCP static mapping was recently deployed in IOS ver 12.3 and later so that we can not make use of this feature in our case moreover I checked the IOS upgradability for that supervisor engine and found that there is no upgrade to ver 12.3 or later available for that type of supervisor engines

We have a Cisco router 2821 and we can set this feature on it (it has IOS ver 12.4) but how can we make this feature works with vlans which are created on the backbone switch and the other edge switches

I know that we can replace this feature with DHCP manual reservation commands on the backbone switch but it is a very hard and time wasteful task

We appreciate your help very much

Thankyou & Best regards

User the ip helper-address feature on the client facing Vlans pointing to the 28xx router on all switches.

With that said, why you aren't using an Unix or Windows server for DHCP services?
